Ctaya brings Filipino gaming culture online — play Tongits from anywhere in the Philippines.
Ask any Filipino about Tongits and you'll likely get a story — maybe about late nights with cousins, a tiyahin who never loses, or a barong neighborhood game where the stakes were a bottle of soft drinks. This three-player card game has been a staple of Filipino social life for decades, and for good reason: it's fast, strategic, and genuinely exciting from the first card dealt to the final reveal.
At Ctaya, we built our Tongits platform with that same spirit in mind. We didn't want to just digitize the game and call it a day. We wanted the experience to feel authentic — the same tension when you're deciding whether to draw from the deck or take from the discard pile, the same satisfaction of laying down a perfect meld, and yes, the same friendly rivalry when someone calls a challenge at just the wrong time.
Whether you're playing to sharpen your skills, pass the time between shifts, or seriously compete for cash prizes, Ctaya's Tongits tables are always open. And because the platform runs on your phone browser with no app download needed, you can join a game wherever you are — sa bahay, sa opisina, or even habang naghihintay ng jeep.

Tongits is played with a standard 52-card deck by exactly three players. The dealer distributes 12 cards to each of the two non-dealers and 13 cards to the dealer. The remaining cards form the central draw pile (the "stock").
Your goal is to reduce the total point value of unmelded cards in your hand as much as possible — ideally to zero. You do this by forming valid sets (three or more cards of the same rank) and sequences (three or more consecutive cards of the same suit) and laying them down on the table.
On your turn, you draw one card from the stock pile and then discard one card face-up. You can also "fight" by adding cards to melds already on the table — yours or your opponents'. The round continues until someone achieves Tongits, someone calls a Draw, or the stock runs out.
You win by declaring Tongits (empty your hand completely), being the player with the lowest unmelded card value when the stock runs out, or surviving a Challenge. The player who wins collects the pot from the other two players based on their remaining card values.
Any player can call a Challenge at any point after the first draw. All players then reveal their hands and compare unmelded card totals. The player with the lowest total wins. This adds a huge layer of strategic bluffing to every Ctaya Tongits session.
| Card | Point Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ace (A) | 1 point | Low Risk |
| 2 – 9 | Face value | Low Risk |
| 10 | 10 points | Medium |
| Jack (J) | 10 points | Medium |
| Queen (Q) | 10 points | Medium |
| King (K) | 10 points | High Risk |
Face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10 points each — if you're holding a lot of them and can't form melds, your risk exposure is high. Experienced Ctaya Tongits players prioritize melding or discarding face cards early to keep their unmelded count low before a Challenge gets called.
From Tagaytay to Taguig — Ctaya players across the Philippines are competing in Tongits right now.
In Tongits, your melds are everything. A strong opening hand means nothing if you can't convert it into solid sets and sequences on the table. Here's a breakdown of what constitutes a valid meld in Ctaya's Tongits games:
Three cards sharing the same rank, regardless of suit. Example: 7♠ 7♥ 7♦. You can also include a fourth card of the same rank to form a four-of-a-kind set.
Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. Example: 4♣ 5♣ 6♣. The longer the sequence, the more cards you remove from your unmelded hand in one go.
Once a meld is on the table, any player can "fight" by adding valid cards to it during their turn. This tactical move, called fighting, lets you cut down your hand fast.
If you empty your entire hand in one turn without revealing any melds beforehand — that's a Tongits. Rare, high-risk, and incredibly satisfying when it lands. The pot is yours instantly.
Tongits rewards players who can think a few moves ahead, manage their card exposure, and read their opponents. Here are some practical tips shared by experienced Ctaya players that can genuinely improve your game:
